Is Our Broadcast Full?
Due to the expense of bandwidth, there are only so many simultaneous free listeners we can have on Whisperings at any one time. Right now, that's 4800 listeners. Once we hit that maximum, you'll receive a message stating that the station is unavailable.

However, there is a way you can STILL LISTEN even if the broadcast is full. Follow this link for information on how you can get unlimited access AND support this station.

Are You Connected to the Internet via Modem?
In order to ensure the highest quality piano sound, we broadcast Whisperings at a higher bit rate than many other Internet radio broadcasts do. As a result, Whisperings requires a FAST DSL, cable modem or network connection. Our apologies to listeners still connecting via modem.

"8502" or Other Numeric Messages

Just close the player and try launching it again. Or try the free Windows Media Player or MP3 stream option.

Player Installation Issues
If you're having difficulties getting the player installed correctly on your browser, or if the install process seems to work OK, but you continue getting the message that it's NOT installed when you click on the play link, the problem may be related to your privacy settings in Internet Explorer. Go to Tools/Options and click on the Privacy tab. Make sure your slider is set to Medium. If you're still having issues, go to the Security tab on this same menu, and click on the Default Level button. Finally, if you're still having issues with the install, the problem most likely lies outside of Internet Explorer and with security settings you may have set in a firewall program, or with Norton Internet Security. See below for settings required for Norton programs.

Or just try using the free Windows Media Player or MP3 stream option.

URL for Wireless/Network MP3 Players
Want to listen to our free stream through a wireless player, such as the Roku Soundbridge Network Music Player? The URL you need is:
http://www.live365.com/play/pianoradio/listen.pls . An alternative URL you can try is http://pianosolo.streamguys.net/live.m3u (for MP3) or http://www.solopianoradio.com/free/pianosolo64wma.asx for Windows Media Player.

What Ports Does Whisperings Use?

For PureStream for iTunes, we use Port 3120
For PureSteam for Windows Media Player, Port 80
For the 56k free stream, we use Port 21388
For the 64k free stream, we use Port 8133

Problems with Firefox Browser
Some folks are having problems listening with the Firefox web browser. Here's something to try to resolve that:

1. Go to http://www.Live365.com with Firefox and go to the "My Account" link and then click the "Listen Settings" tab. Under "MP3 Player" select the radio button next to "MP3 Player" (Winamp, MusicMatch, whatever you use) then click "Save Settings".
2. Launch Whisperings: Solo Piano Radio from our home page.
3. If Firefox doesn't know what to do with a "PLS" file download, it will prompt you for an action. Select "Open With" and select your audio software in the dropdown. Also check the box labeled "Do this automatically for files like this" and Click OK.
4. If Firefox tries to do anything else (like Save the PLS file), make these changes in your Firefox settings: Select Firefox->Tools->Options->Downloads menu. Select the PLS file in the File Types list and click "Remove" and OK. Then repeat #2 & 3 above.

Are You Seeing "Undefined" Messages or Incomplete Window Loading?
The appearance of numerous instances of the word "undefined" in the player window (as well as other odd behavior such as incomplete or continuous loading) is normally caused by Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall. To allow unrestricted access, follow the steps below to exempt Live365's server from Ad Blocking:

For 2004 products
1. Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
2. Click Ad Blocking > Configure > Advanced > Add Site.

5. Select Permit.
6. Type a single / into the dialog box, and the Click OK.
7. Click OK to close any open windows.
8. If you're logged into Live365.com, log out, then delete all temporary internet files from Internet Explorer (Tools->Internet Options->Delete Files)
9. Restart the computer.

If you are still having difficulties with the player,
the problem may be related to your privacy settings in Internet Explorer. Go to Tools/Options and click on the Privacy tab. Make sure your slider is set to Medium. If you're still having issues, go to the Security tab on this same menu, and click on the Default Level button.

If none of that works, try clicking the "Now Playing" link at the top of the player window and see if the display returns as it should.

Playlist Not Updating?
Right-click on the playlist window choose the "Refresh" option. The playlist window shound refresh with the current playlist.

Now Playing Link Doesn't Display
If you want to see what's playing and for some reason the Now Playing link isn't working for you, you can also view the current song plus the previous two at http://www.live365.com/stations/pianoradio

How to I Stop the Clicking Sound?
You may hear a clicking sound every time the launched player refreshes. This is, unfortunately, a side effect of a Windows Explorer navigation "event." There is a setting on your computer that you can disable to solve that.

1. Go into your Windows Control Panel
2. Select "Sounds and Audio Devices"
3. Click the Sounds tab
4. Under the Program Events list, look for Windows Explorer.
5. Highlight the "Start Navigation" option and then where it says "Sounds" set it to "None."

Now click on OK several times to close the control panel. The occasional clicking sound should now be gone.
